Kevin Silva Takes Medalist Honors at RI Amateur
Kevin Silva posted a two-day score of 10-under par to take medalist honors at the Rhode Island Amateur on Wednesday at Kirkbrae Country Club.
Silva will be the number one seed heading into match play on Thursday morning.
“It’s fantastic. This tournament is all about the match play, really looking forward to match play portion of this tournament. Last two days I was able to plot myself around the golf course for the stroke play portion. Then the tournament restarts and so I’ll recalibrate and then ill be able to just play against one guy,” Silva told GolfNewsRI after the round.

Silva fired a 68 on the first day and a sparkling 6 6 on Wednesday to post a two-day score of 134.
He finished two shots ahead of Andrew O”Leary and three shots ahead of defending champion Jamie Lukowicz.
Silva’s 2nd Round
After finishing four under in the first round, Silva opened the second round by saving par on the first five holes before birding the sixth hole.
He made bogey on nine to make the turn at even par.
The two time U.S. Open competitor then lit it up on the back nine.
Silva dropped birdies on 10 and 11 and then another on 13 to get to three under on the day.
After a par on the tough 14th hole, Silva birdied 15 and 16 and parred 17.
Silva left his approach on 18 just on the front fringe and then drained a 20-footer for birdie to get to 10-under for the tournament.
