Dessel, Papa Sisters in Middle of Pack at Junior North & South Amateur
The three Rhode Islanders playing in the Junior North & South Amateur at Pinehurst are all in the middle of the pack.
On the boys side, Moses Brown star Harry Dessel posted a one-over 73 during the first round on Monday.
He began the day with birdies on two of his first five holes, before a double bogey on nine and a bogey on 16 sent him to one over for the day.
Dessel is in a tie for 32nd.
On the girls side of the tournament, Vinny Papa is in a tie for 32nd as well after posting a first round 75 (3-over) on Monday.
Vinny made bogey on the third, seventh and 11th holes, before a double on 14.
However, she ended the round by dropping birdie putts on the 16th and 17th holes to get to three-over for the day.
Meanwhile, Gianna Papa is in a tie for 52nd after round one.
She posted a six-over 78 in the first round.
