Papa Sisters, Harry Dessel Competing at Pinehurst’s Junior North & South Amateur
A couple of rising Rhode Island golf stars are on their way to famed Pinehurst Resort to compete in the 43rd Junior North & South Amateur.
On the girls side, Vinny and Gianna Papa are in the field after a big week at the NEPGA Jr. Championship that saw Vinny win the title and Gianna finish third.
At 12-years-old, Vinny is the youngest player to ever get an invitation to the tournament, beating out Gianna, who was the previous youngest.
Gianna tees off at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 5, while Vinny tees off at 7:45 a.m.
They will be playing Pinehurst No. 2.
On the boys side of things, Moses Brown star Harry Dessel is in the tournament.
It is a busy stretch for Dessel as he is already in the Rhode Island Amateur the week after.
Dessel tees off on Pinehurst No. 8 at 8:06 a.m. on Monday, July 5.
The tournament finishes on Wednesday, July 7.
