PGA Tour to End On-Site Covid Testing in July
The PGA Tour is ending on-site Covid-19 testing at the 3M Open near the end of July, according to a letter to players obtained by Golf Digest.
According to Golf Digest, the programs that are being cut include weekly on-site testing, complimentary at-home testing, all pro-am testing, and the stipend program, which paid players when they had to withdraw from tournaments due to the virus.

“We are pleased to announce, after consultation with PGA Tour medical advisors, that due to the high rate of vaccination among all constituents on the PGA Tour, as well as other positively trending factors across the country, testing for COVID-19 will no longer be required as a condition of competition beginning with the 3M Open,” wrote PGA Tour Senior Vice President Tyler Dennis in the letter, according to Golf Digest.
The Tour has not revealed how many players have been vaccinated.
According to Golf Digest, the Korn Ferry Tour will continue on-site testing.
Since the PGA Tour started testing 19 months ago, nearly 30 Tour players have tested positive for the coronavirus.
Players who tested positive include Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Tony Finau Gary Woodland, Padraig Harrington and more.
