URI Names Scholarship After Legendary Golf Writer Tim Rosaforte
The University of Rhode Island announced that an endowed scholarship has been created and named after legendary golf writer Tim Rosaforte.
Rosaforte, now 65, graduated from URI in 1977.

The scholarship is for the field of neuroscience, as Rosaforte is currently battling early onset Alzheimers, which he was diagnosed with last October.
It is open to anyone looking to go into that field.
Rosaforte’s Career
Rosaforte, now 65, covered the game of golf for almost four decades and worked at Golf Digest for over 20 years.
After graduating from URI in 1977, he moved to Florida and started working for the Tampa Times.
After that, he worked for the Sun-Sentinel and the Palm Beach Post.
In 1993, he took a job at Sports Illustrated before joining Golf Digest in 1996.
He eventually moved to TV where he worked for the USA Network’s “PGA Tour Sunday” in 2003 and then Golf Channel.
In 2014, Rosaforte received the PGA’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism.
Rosaforte retired in 2019.
