Chatfield Goes Low, 2 Back Entering Final Round of Northeast Amateur
Davis Chatfield fired a third round 65 on Friday afternoon to launch himself up the leaderboard at the Northeast Amateur at Wannamoisett Country Club.
Entering Saturday’s final round, Chatfield is just two shots back of leader Dylan Menante.
“I definitely hit the ball a lot better than the first two days. I missed maybe one or two greens, gave myself a ton of looks. I just tried to keep it as stress free as possible,” said Chatfield after the round.

Chatfield will be in the second to last group on Saturday.
“It means a ton. Obviously, I’ve been working toward that for awhile now. So, I’m going to enjoy tonight, and enjoy tomorrow and whatever that brings, it brings,” said Chatfield after the round.
He added, “I know this course better than anyone I feel like, so we will see what happens.”
Back 9 Magic
After playing the front nine in one under par, Chatfield turned the up the heat on the back nine.
He birdied the 10th hole and then dropped a 40 footer on the 11th hole to get to three-under for the tournament.
“I kinda gave it back on the next hole, but that was big, just seeing one drop,” added Chatfield.
Chatfield did make bogey on 12, however, he birdied 14 and the par-5 17 to get to five under for the tournament.
On 18, his birdie putt just fell short by about half a roll.
Had that dropped, he would have been in the final pairing on Saturday.
