Point Judith’s Slade Takes Medalist Honors at Final RI Amateur Qualifier
Point Judith Country Club’s McKinley Slade posted a three-under 68 to run away with medalist honors in the final RI Amateur qualifier on Wednesday afternoon at Crystal Lake.
Slade was the only player under par in the entire field, with his next closest competitor finishing at one-over.
He was the first tee times out Wednesday morning, so his three-under set the pace right off the start.

The cut ended up being six-over par, with exactly 22 players sneaking inside it.
In the previous two qualifiers, the cut line had fluctuated significantly throughout the day.
In Wednesday’s qualifier, the cut line went to six-over early on and stayed there due to the early score from Slade.
Slade’s Round
Teeing off at 7:30 a.m., Slade birdied two of his first four holes to get to two-under on the round right off the jump.
He then parred every single hole until dropping a birdie on 18 to get to three-under.
