Two Teams Tied for Lead After Day 1 of State Four Ball Championship
Two teams are tied for the lead after day one of the State Four Ball Championship at Valley Country Club.
The team of Bobby Leopold and Tyler Cooke, as well as, the team of Alex Parente and Joseph Tucker are both tied at seven-under par.
Leopold and Cooke played the first nine in two-under par with Leopold carrying most of the load.
He was two-under on his own ball.
On the back, Leopold continued his run by making birdie on 13, and Cooke contributed a birdie on 15 to get the pair to four under.
Leopold than rattled off three straight birdies in a row to get the team to seven under and into the lead.
For Parente and Tucker, it was Tucker who carried the pair on the front nine, making four birdies on his own ball.
Parente added birdies on 12 and 15, while Tucker added a birdie on 16 to get the team to seven under.
Rest of Field
There are three teams that are just one shot behind, including the team of Austin Cilley and Daniel Weinman.
They had the solo lead for most of the day, even taking it to the clubhouse.
The other teams at six-under are the Kirkbrae team of Tom McCormick and Larry Lafauci and the team of Augie Sottile and Matthew Phillips.
The final round of the Four Ball takes place on Thursday at Valley.
Overall, there are 80 teams in the field and there is no cut.
