BREAKING: Mickelson Makes History, Wins PGA Championship

Phil Mickelson won the PGA Championship for the second time in his career on Sunday afternoon at Kiawah Island.

At 50-years-old, Mickelson becomes the oldest player ever to win a major championship, surpassing Julius Boros, who did it at 48-years old in 1968.

The win also gives Mickelson his sixth major championship and is just the 14th member of that historic club.

Mickelson finished the tournament at six under par to beat Brooks Koepka and Louis Oosthuizen by two shots.

Rollercoaster Final Round

The first few holes were one heck of a rollercoaster ride for Mickelson and his playing competitor Brooks Koepka.

Phil bogeyed the first hole and Koepka birdied, meaning the lead changed hands just 13 minutes into the day.

On the next hole, Koepka gave it back to Phil and more, as Koepka made a seven and Phil dropped in a birdie.

On the third hole, Mickelson made bogey and Koepka birdie, meaning they were tied at six.

Mickelson than took the lead outright with a birdie on the fifth hole, and did so again on the seventh hole.

Meanwhile, Koepka couldn’t make a putt, including short ones that have hurt him all week.

Koepka bogey seven, and then made back-to-back bogeys on 10 and 11 to put him as many as five shots back.

Things got interesting mid-way through the back nine when Mickelson made back-to-back bogeys to cut his five shot lead to three.

Mickelson would make another bogey on 17 to give him a two-shot lead going into the last hole.

On the last hole, Mickelson put his tee shot into the rough near the fans and then stuck his second shot near the flag to seal the victory.
