Patrick Welch Attempting to Qualify for U.S. Open
Patrick Welch is attempting to qualify for the U.S. Open today at Wichita Country Club in Kansas.
The former Classical star and current Oklahoma Sooner tees off at 11:20 a.m. Rhode Island time (10:20 Kansas time).
Welch is playing with Joshua Charles and William Dougherty.
As has been the case in other qualifiers, the top two spots will advance to sectionals, with two alternates.
Welch This Season
On the course, it has been a good year for Welch and his Oklahoma Sooners.
During the fall, Welch won the Individual Title at the East Lake Cup by a couple of shots.
During the spring season, Welch was ranked as high as fifth best in the country and named to the Haskins Award Watch List.
Following his attempt to qualify for the Open, he will look to help lead the Sooners to a National Championship.
