Quail Hollow magic? Perhaps.
Rory McIlroy once agains conquered the historic golf course, winning the Wells Fargo Championship on Sunday afternoon in North Carolina.
Back in 2010, McIlroy set the course record (61) at the club en route to winning the Wells Fargo Championship.
He won the tournament again at Quail Hollow in 2015.
Sunday’s win for McIlroy comes after he missed three straight cuts and dropped to 15th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
It is his first win since 2019, and the 19th win of his career in his 196th start.
McIlroy Closes it Out
McIlroy came into the day trailing Ken Mitchell by two shots, and was three shots back after the first hole.
After birdies on three and seven, McIlroy took a one shot lead and maintained command of the tournament.
He then birdied the 14th and 15th holes to take a two shot lead.
McIlroy would make a par on 17 and a bogey on 18 after a drop to win the tournament.
