High School Feature Match: EG, Hendricken Battle at Warwick Country Club
The Bishop Hendricken Hawks and East Greenwich Avengers renewed their rivalry on Tuesday afternoon at Warwick Country Club.
The two teams are among the favorites to win the State Championship this season.
It is going to be us and East Greenwich battling it out,” Hendricken coach Rick Angeli told GolfNewsRI prior to the season.
In Tuesday’s match, which also consisted of Cranston West, the Avengers posted a team score of 158 to beat the Hawks by two shots.
The Avengers were led by Cameron Warrener, who fired a sparkling 36 (1-over-par).
His round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-4 18th hole with a pitching wedge from 150 yards.
Ryan Marcantonio added a 37 and Mike Quattromani posted a 40.
The Avengers’ scoring was capped off by Sam Slaiby, who posted a 45.
Hendricken posted a 160 on the day.
The Hawks were led by Andrew Chadwick’s 38, Brady Williams’ 40 and a pair of 41s from Ricky Angeli and Harry Grimes.
The Falcons posted a 175 for the day.
Cranston West’s leading scorers were Shawn Cadiuex, who shot 41, Ava Santamaria and Maddie Barbieri who posted 44 and Peter Vashon, who closed out the scoring with a 46.
