Welch in 10th, Oklahoma Shares Lead at Big 12 Championship
Patrick Welch moved into a tie for 10th place while his Oklahoma Sooners hold a share of the lead heading into the final round of the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Kansas.
Welch posted a third round 69 on Tuesday to jump from 16th to 10th in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the top-ranked Sooners are in a three way tie for first with Texas, and rival Oklahoma State at 16-over par.
“Our guys are excited for tomorrow. I know they’ll all want their moment to help this squad do something special, but at the end of the day we collectively will need to come together and play solid golf. Prairie Dunes will still be Prairie Dunes, and we’ll need a combination of great thoughts and execution. These guys are ready,” said Head Coach Ryan Hybl after the round.
The top-ranked Sooners will tee off on Wednesday in a twosome with fourth-place Texas Tech (+30, T4) starting at 8:45 a.m. Co-leaders Oklahoma State and Texas tee off 45 minutes after Oklahoma.
Welch’s Day
Welch (+8, T10) carded a 1-under 69 as he continued his upward trend posting a 76 in the opening round and 73 on Monday afternoon.
The junior Haskins Watch List honoree finished T8 at the 2019 conference championship and owns two top-10 finishes this season, including a win at the East Lake Cup.
His 35 pars on the week are the most in the field.
