USGA to Require Vaccination or Negative Test for Fans at U.S. Open, Women’s Open

The USGA is set to allow a limited number of fans at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines and the U.S. Women’s Open at The Olympic Club.

However, there is a catch.

All fans attending, or who plan to attend, must either be vaccinated or present a negative test.

“We are grateful to our local and state health and safety officials in California to be in a position to welcome some fans back this year to witness the greatest players in the world contending for these prestigious championships, while working to maintain the health and safety of all involved,” said John Bodenhamer, USGA Senior Managing Director of Championships.

The U.S. Open is set for June 17-20, while the Women’s Open is set for June 3-6.

It is unclear how many tickets are being made available.

Protocols

According to the USGA, California residents must show proof of vaccination within the 14 days prior to the tournament, or that a negative test result has been received.

For all out of state attendees, it is mandatory for them to provide proof of vaccination from at least 14 days before the tournament.

All fans, workers and volunteers will need to wear face coverings on site at all times.
