Vincenza Papa Leads Futures National at Mid-Atlantic Girls Championship
Pinecrest Country Club’s Vincenza Papa fired a first round 68 to lead the Futures National at the Mid-Atlantic Girls Championship by one shot on Saturday.
The tournament, being played at Bulle Rock Golf Club in Maryland is part of the Pga Mid-Atlantic Section.
Papa opened the round with three straight pars before dropping in a birdie on the fourth hole, a bogey on five and another birdie on eight means she would make the turn at one under.
Papa would make three more birdies on the back nine to shoot four under par.

Over in the Bell National, Gianna Papa is tied for 21st after posting a six over par 78 in the first round.
Papa struggled on the front nine, making two double-bogeys and two bogeys in the first seven holes.
She closed the front with a birdie on the ninth hole before playing the back nine in one over par.
