Patrick Welch posted a first round 78 and is tied for 40th after the first round of the Calusa Cup at Calusa Pines Golf Club in Florida.
Welch is playing the tournament as an individual, meaning that his score does not affect the team score.

As a team, #2 Oklahoma is in solo third place after the first round with a score of 293 (+5).
The Sooners are led by Jonathan Brightwell and Quade Cummins, who are both inside the top ten.
“The golf course is tough and will continue to be a challenge, but this is great to see our guys compete on difficult greens. Jonathan (Brightwell) played a solid round of golf today, and Quade (Cummins) and Garett (Reband) had great rallies to finish off the day. We will be better tomorrow,” said Head Coach Ryan Hybl after the round.
Oklahoma sits three strokes off No. 1 Florida State and No. 13 Florida.
The Sooners tee off on Monday starting at 1:50 p.m. with No. 1 Florida State and No. 13 Florida. Fans can follow live scoring on Golfstat.com.
