Resetting the RI Golf Pro Situation

This past winter, there was an unprecedented amount of movement from Rhode Island golf pros.

It was almost like a musical chairs situation.

Pros switching clubs within the state, others moving over a state and a few others just leaving the entire New England region all together.

GolfNewsRI covered each and every move that took place, and to help you, we have wrapped it up in a nice little package below.

Who knows, there still could be more moves to come.

Here is a recap:

Ledgemont

Ledgemont Country Club has named Norm Alberigo its new golf pro.

Alberigo joined the Agawam Hunt in 1994, where he served as the head pro for a number of years.

Prior to that, Alberigo worked at Rhode Island Country Club where he was known as one of the area’s top instructors.

Quidnessett

Peter Chwaliszewski named Head Golf Professional after John Del Bonis resigned recently.

Chwaliszewski most recently worked at Lake of Isles at Foxwoods, where he served last the Director of Golf.

He will begin his term at Quidnessett on March 29.

Kirkbrae

Jason Howard, PGA, was named Head Professional at Kirkbrae Country Club.

This comes as former Head Golf Professional Mike Bradshaw, PGA moves into a Director of Golf/General Manager role.

Ledgemont

Long time New England golf pro Troy Pare left Ledgemont for a job in Florida.

Pare has taken a job as the Director of Golf at Grand Harbor Golf and Beach Club in Vero Beach, Florida.

Swansea

Eric Dantas was named Lead Golf Instructor at Swansea Country Club.

He will work with Russel Johnson, who serves as The Director of Instruction.

Both Dantas and Johnson represent the Ocean State Golf Academy at Swansea Country Club.

Montaup

Button Hole’s Dan Gaughan is the new Head Pro at Montaup Country Club.

“Thank You Coach Dan for 13 great seasons of teaching our Button Hole Kids not only how to golf, but all the impactful life lessons that will stay with them for many years to come,” writes Button Hole on Facebook.

Andover Country Club

Former Metacomet Pro Christopher Talbert has taken the Head Pro job at Andover Country Club in Massachusetts.

Talbert helped lead Metacomet for 14 years before leaving in January of 2020 when the club was sold.

TPC Boston

Don Baldassare named new Head Golf Professional.

He formerly worked at TPC Scottsdale.

Previous TPC pro Mark Nowosielski is leaving the club to take a job in Michigan.

  • As a recent subscriber, I’m a bit late in congratulating Dan Gaughan to his new Head Pro Position @ Montaup. I have always thought Dan’s Love of the Game would propel him to Higher Grounds. Another step forward with a well deserved
challenge and return to his former roots. Your Old..and I mean Old Titleist Representative.
