RIGA’s Bob Ward Wins NEPGA’s Wemyss Award
Rhode Island Golf Association (RIGA) Executive Director Bob Ward won the New England PGA’s Wemyss Award for contributions to golf.
“Bob Ward has been a huge part of the RIGA for the last 22 years. Seven as Tournament Director and the last 15 as our Executive Director,” writes RIGA on Twitter.
About the Award
George Wemyss served as executive direction for 21 years, retiring in 1990. He was highly respected by the PGA of America and through his efforts New England PGA became one of the top sections.
He won the Section’s Golden Golf Award a record 3 times and was honored when the NEPGA changed the name of the prestigious award to the George S. Wemyss Award.
