O’Leary, Chatfield Lead Notre Dame to 2nd Place Finish at Spartan Collegiate

A pair of former RI Amateur champions led the University of Notre Dame men’s golf team to a second place finish at the Spartan Collegiate this week. 

O’Leary, who won the Amateur two years ago and finished runner up last year, led Notre Dame with a fourth place finish.

He was in first place by himself heading into the back nine of the tournament and ended up finishing fourth. 

O’Leary shot a four-round total of 211, including a first round 69. 

The fourth place finish is a career-best for O’Leary.

Meanwhile, Chatfield finished in 35th for Notre Dame with a three round score of 219. 

Spartan Collegiate 

Overall, Notredame finished in second place with a  three-round score of 852. 

They had the lead for a good portion of the tournament before being overtaken by Iowa.
