Third time is the charm? One Rhode Island family is hoping so. 

After having to cancel twice already due to Covid, the Callahan family, Michael and his wife, are hosting a golf tournament at Valley Country Club in May to benefit their son Chase. 

Chase Callahan, born on May 3, 2018, was diagnosed with rare disease called Kyphoscoliotic Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (KEDS) five months later.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a genetic connective tissue disorder. It affects the heart, blood vessels, joints, eyes, and spine. 

“Chase is now eighteen months old and is a little ball of energy. Chase has learned to “scoot” all around the house and has even started to stand with some support. Chase’s determination, curiosity, and relentless energy have proven to be his biggest assets,” writes the Callahan family in the tournament brochure. 

The golf tournament will now take place on Tuesday, May 17 at Valley with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. 

Funds raised from the tournament will benefit Chase, as well as, the Marfan Foundation.
