Morikawa Wins WGC-Workday Championship
Northeast Amateur alum Collin Morikawa notched his fourth PGA Tour victory on Sunday, winning the WGC-Workday Championship by three shots at The Concession in Florida.
“I mean, it shows that I can come out here and compete. But what a week. I mean, I was working on so much the past couple weeks, tips from Mark O’Meara, Paul Azinger, got this week through. My game felt so good, but I’m just so excited right now,” said Morikawa after the round.
Morikawa finished at 18-under par for the tournament, three shots better than Viktor Hovland, Brooks Koepka and Billy Horschel.

It is Morikawa’s first career win when leading after 54 holes. He took a two shot lead into Sunday’s final round.
Morikawa won the Northeast Amateur back in 2017, while he was at Cal-Berkeley.
Chasers Fade
Some of Morikawa’s chasers included Scheffler, Koepka, Horschel and Hovland.
Koepka had a lengthy eagle putt on the 17th hole, but blew it by the hole. He missed the birdie putt coming back.
Horschel tied the lead for a short period of time early in the round, but was not able to hang with the youngster.
Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed were both non factors in the final round.
Next up for the PGA Tour is the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.
