Cape Cod CC in Danger of Becoming Solar Farm

Cape Cod Country Club is in danger of being turned into a solar farm.

According to Cape News, club owner David Friel is working with Amp Energy to turn the golf course into a giant solar farm.

“Unfortunately, golf clubs are not as good of money-makers today as they used to be, and the owner is at the point he wants to sell or do something else with the property. Mr. Friel explored other options including building residential development on-site, but would rather go this route,” said attorney Robert Ament during a December 22 meeting with board members.

Cape News reports that zoning changes are needed before the project can go forward.

The proposed zoning changes will be discussed during a public meeting on Tuesday, February 23.

The changes will be voted on at April’s Town Meeting.

According to Cape News, the solar farm likely wouldn’t be built until 2023.
