PointsBet Sportsbook Refunds Bettors Over Patrick Reed Controversy

Patrick Reed may have won the Farmers Insurance Open in the midst of controversy, however, some sports books are not necessarily honoring it.

Within a couple of hours of the tournament ending, PointsBet Sportsbook announced they are refunding anyone that put money on a different golfer.

“There was no shortage of Patrick Reed talk on his way to winning the Farmers Insurance Open. If you bet on a different golfer, we have your back! PointsBet is refunding ALL pre-tournament outright winner wagers on all other golfers in Free Bets,” tweeted PointsBet.

Reed won by five shots over Victor Hovland on Sunday.

“I can’t remember a more lackluster Sunday at a PGA tour event. It was as if a pall had been cast over the day by what had happened the day before. This is the definition of a hollow victory and the fact that PointsBetUSA refunded bets made speaks to the inequity felt by many,” tweeted Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee on Sunday night.

It is not known when Reed will be playing next.
