5 Ways to Give to Golf on Giving Tuesday

2020 has been a brutal year for everyone, including golf related organizations. 

They have had to cancel events and alter events to fit Covid protocols.

“This has been a year of change – we had many fun and exciting events planned this year that we, unfortunately, had to cancel or change. We thank each and every one of our donors for supporting us through these times,” writes The Burke Fund. 

However, through it all, these organizations have kept the game and spirit of golf alive. 

From Button Hole to The Burke Fund, they have continued to teach, award scholarships and raise money.

On this Giving Tuesday, consider a donation to any of these organizations: 

Burke Fund

The Burke Fund

Formally recognized as the John P. Burke Memorial Fund, it provides financial aid to qualified students to assist them in obtaining a college education. 

More familiar to golfers as the “Burke Fund”, it is one of the oldest golf scholarship programs in the country. 

This year, the Burke Fund has awarded over $40,000 to 18 scholars.

Button Hole

Button Hole

Button Hole is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public golf facility in Providence that welcomes people of all abilities.

It consists of a short nine hole course, as well as, a driving range and putting greens.

Earlier this year, Button Hole’s offices were damaged due to a fire that broke out.

RI Children’s Golf Course

The Mission of the RI Children’s Golf Course is to guide, nurture and positively influence children by providing educational programs which create life enhancing values and build character through the game of golf, leading to their growth into responsible, strong adults.

After participating in our programs, independent studies have revealed that not only have children’s grades gotten better, but the behavioral and social skills of these youngsters improved substantially as well.

Special Olympics Rhode Island

Special Olympics Rhode Island is one of the state’s most dynamic programs, providing over 1,600 year-round sports training and athletic competition opportunities to more than 4,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. 

Special Olympics Rhode Island hosts over 40 statewide tournaments and competitions each year in 20 official and demonstration sports.

They host a number of golf tournaments every year.
