Tiger Woods to Skip Houston Open

After finishing near the bottom at last week’s Zozo Championship, Tiger Woods said he would consider playing next week’s Houston Open, before heading to Augusta National.

However, according to Golf Digest, Woods will be skipping the Houston Open and finish his Masters prep at home.

“There was some speculation whether Tiger would play Houston based on what he said at Sherwood, but he has decided to prepare for the Masters at home,” said Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg to Golf Digest.

The decision is not surprising considering that Woods has never played the week before the Masters, or really any major.

Woods’ This Year

However, it is fair to question the decision, especially if he does not perform at Augusta.

In eight PGA Tour starts during the calendar year, Woods’ best finish came in a tie for 9th at the Farmers Insurance Open way back in January.

Since the Tour’s resumption of play, he has not finished better than a tie for 37th.
