Metacomet’s “Last Caddie” Dave Bart appears to have landed on his feet after the closure of Metacomet a few weeks ago.
According to the Providence Journal’s Mark Patinkin, Bart now caddies at another historic Rhode Island course, Wannamoisett.
As GolfNewsRI reported, following the closure of Metacomet, a GoFundMe Page has been started for Bart to help him out.
The page has currently raised $2,346 out of a goal of $3,500.
According to the original ProJo story, Bart is a 58 and lives in a one-room apartment on the Pawtucket-Central Falls line.
On most days, Bart walks nearly two hours from his apartment to Metacomet to make $60-$80 a bag.
He carries an old transistor radio and a flip phone.
Prior to being a caddie, Bart was in the army for nearly eight years. He served as Military Police in Germany on two occasions and at Fort Hood in Texas.
