BREAKING: Johnson Holds on to Win Tour Championship, FedEx Cup

Dustin Johnson held off Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas to win the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup on Monday afternoon at East Lake in Atlanta.

This is Johnson’s first FedEx Cup title and it comes with a $15 million first place prize.

It also marks the 23rd career victory for DJ, who now sits just one behind Gary Player.

The victory caps off an incredible run for Johnson, who won led after 54 holes at the PGA Championship, won the Northern Trust, finished second at the BMW and now wins the Tour Championship.

Johnson Holds On

Johnson entered the final round with a five shot lead and maintained complete control for the majority of the day.

He maintained control despite back-to-back bogeys on seven and eight to bring the field back into it.

Thomas and Schauffele cut Johnson’s lead to two shots with four holes left to play.

However, Thomas would make a bogey and would not eagle the 18th hole.

He did make birdie to finish three shots back.

Schauffele stayed two back, but was unable to make a birdie or eagle coming home.
