ZOZO Championship to Move to California’s Sherwood Country Club
The PGA Tour has announced that the 2020 ZOZO Championship will be played at Sherwood Country Club in California, instead of Japan due to COVID-19.
“The PGA TOUR is grateful that ZOZO Inc. has partnered with us to host the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP at SHERWOOD this October. Considering ZOZO Inc.’s main business is in Japan, the decision to hold its event in the U.S. underscores their commitment and support towards our sport, communities where we play and the PGA TOUR. We are truly thankful for our partnership with ZOZO Inc. and the Japan Golf Tour Organization,” said Ty Votaw, PGA Tour Executive Vice President, International.
The tournament will now take place from October 22-25.
Tiger Woods is the defending champion.
The ZOZO Championship will now be part of a three-event West Coast swing in October as part of the early 2020-21 PGA Tour schedule.
The swing now includes the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin, the CJ CUP at Shadow Creek and now the ZOZO.
The tournament will feature 78 professionals, including the leading players from the 2019-20 FedEx Cup points list.
