RI’s Paik Tied for 11th After Rd. 1 of National HS Golf Invitational at Pinehurst

Wheeler School alum and Columbia commit Allison Paik is tied for 11th out of 100 competitors after round one of the National High School Golf Invitational at Pinehurst No. 6 in North Carolina.

Paik fired a five-over par 77 in round one and is in a tie with South Carolina’s Madison Dixon and North Carolina’s Riley Hamilton. 

Paik is the only Rhode Islander in the field. 

Round two is set for Tuesday, August 4 and the final round on August 5. 

Georgia’s Loralie Cowart leads at two-under par. 

Paik’s Round 

After opening with a par, Paik bogeyed the second, fourth an sixth holes to go to three-over par. 

She then saved par on the seventh and eighth holes before bogeying nine to turn at four over par. 

On the back, Paik parred the first three holes before making bogey on 13 to get to five over par. 

She made par on the next three holes before sinking her lone birdie of the day on 17, but gave it back on 18 to finish at five over.
