Rhode Island golf pros Ed Kirby and Bob Tramonti finished in a tie for seventh at the New England PGA Senior Championship on Tuesday at Blackstone National Golf Club.
Kirby, now of The Aquidneck Club, shot 72 in the first round and 74 in the second round to finish at two-over for the tournament.
Meanwhile, Triggs Memorial’s Tramonti, shot 71 in the first round and 75 in the second round also get to two-over for the tournament.
Kirk Hanefeld won the tournament for the third time.
“In reality it was early in the round, after the first three or four holes, but this is a funny game and there are an awful lot of good players so to let my guard down and coast would have been a big mistake,” said Hanefeld after the round.
The only other Rhode Island pros in the tournament were North Kingstown’s Brian Owens and Newport National’s Chris Hulme.
Owens shot nine over par to finish in a tie for 23rd, while Hulme shot ten over par and finished in a tie for 25th.
