Ledgemont CC to Host Bay State Classic
With the Rhode Island Open being canceled by the Rhode Island Golf Association (RIGA) earlier this season, Ledgemont Country Club is stepping up to host the “Bay State Classic.”
The tournament, announced by Ledgemont pro Troy Pare, is just for golf professionals and there is a $400 entry fee.
There will be a first place prize of $5,000.
“My fellow golf professionals, want to compete for some money, Ledgemont CC is hosting the “Bay State Classic” in lieu of the RI Open since it’s been canceled. Entry fee is $400 with first prize of $5,000. With enough players, we will be playing for bigger checks. Dates are Tuesday, August 11 and Wednesday, August 12,” wrote Pare on Facebook.
The tournament is a 36 hole stroke play event that will take place on Tuesday, August 11 and Wednesday, August 12.
This tournament is the same dates that the RI Open was supposed to be.
RI Open Canceled
As GolfNewsRI reported earlier this month, RIGA canceled the Rhode Island Open due to the coronavirus.
This was the first time that the RI Open was canceled since 1945.
