Peter Walsh: Make Golf Fun
If you follow along with golfnewsri.com you will have seen a post about a kid/parent or grandparent event we host annually at our club.
We call it ‘4 & S’mores.’
The format is an alternate shot but once the ball gets the green we let the kids putt out and finish the hole.
We are lucky at our course to have a 4 hole loop that starts and finishes right at the clubhouse.
Then after golf we make S’Mores at our fire pit, even with the graham cracker shortage.
I’m sure some of the kids tolerate the golf so they can enjoy the after golf festivities.
Tonight we even have a short magic show for the kids to enjoy.
My advice to all you parents/grandparents out there to help get your young children/grandchildren involved in golf, ‘MAKE IT FUN’ Make it less about the score and more about just being outside enjoying nature together.
