O’Leary Tied for 9th Through Round 2 at NE Amateur

Rhode Island golf star Andrew O’Leary is in a tie for 9the place through two rounds at the New England Amateur at Concord Country Club in Massachusetts.

After shooting 69 in the first round, O’Leary fired a 72 in the second round to get to one-over for the tournament. 

O’Leary lost the Rhode Island Amateur this past Saturday to Jamie Lukowicz. 

He begins round three on Thursday, July 23 at 8:24 a.m. 

O’Leary’s Second Round

O’Leary opened the second round with eight straight pars before bogeying the ninth hole to get to one over on the day. 

He then encountered a tough stretch in which he doubled the tenth hole, saved par at 11 and bogeyed 12 to get to four over on the day. 

O’Leary made his first birdie of the day on 13, but gave it right back on 15 with a bogey. 

Just like in round one, O’Leary finished strong with birdies on 17 and 18 to shoot 72. 

Other RIers in Field 

Two time Rhode Island Amateur champ bobby Leopold fired a 70 in the second round an remains at five-over for the tournament, along with URI golf star Chris Francoeur. 

Wannamoisett’s Bill Forcier is at seven-over, while Tyler Cooke missed the cut at eight over.
