URI Golf Star Francoeur Advances to Quarterfinals of Mass Am
University of Rhode Island golf star Chris Francoeur has advanced the the quarterfinals of the Massachusetts Amateur.
Francoeur will face The Country Club’s Rob Owen on Thursday morning at 8 a.m.
Francoeur’s Run
After Francoeur won medalist honors, he edged Patrick Frodigh in his first match during the round of 32.
The match went 19 holes with Francoeur having to come back from an early two-down deficit.
In his second match against Andrew DiRamio, Francoeur got off to a much better start.
After halving the first four holes, Francoeur won five, six and seven to go three up.
He took that lead into the back nine, and then extended it on the 12th and 13th holes to go five up.
He closed the match on 16.
