URI Star Francoeur’s Attempt to Qualify for Travelers Championship Falls Short
University of Rhode Island golf star Chris Francoeur’s attempt to qualify for the PGA Tour’s Travelers championship fell short on Monday at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Connecticut.
Francoeur fired an even par 72 after playing the front nine a one over and the back nine at one under.
The two qualifiers were David Pastore and Chase Koepka, the brother of Brooks Koepka.
They were both five under.

This past season, Francoeur was named the New England Golfer of the Year, as well as, being named to the PING All-Northeast Region Team.
Francoeur led URI with an impressive 69.4 scoring average.
He claimed individual medalist honors at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial and placed second at the Wildcat Fall Invitational.
Francoeur had a pair of third-place finishes – at the Dartmouth Invitational and the Georgetown Intercollegiate.
