PGA Tour Replaces John Deere Classic With 2nd Event at Muirfield Village

The PGA Tour wasted very little time replacing the canceled John Deere Classic.

On Tuesday, the Tour announced that it has agreed in principle with Workday to title sponsor an official Tour event that would take place Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.

The tournament will take place from July 6 to 12, the date of the John Deere Classic.

It will also mark the first of back-to-back tournaments held at Muirfield Village as Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial Tournament will be held there the following week.

The PGA Tour is expected to issue a press release with finalized details in the coming days.

John Deere Classic Canceled

As GolfNewsRI reported, the John Deere Classic was canceled due to ongoing local and state-related challenges caused by the coronavirus crisis.

This year’s John Deere Classic would have been the Quad Cities’ 50th PGA TOUR event and the 21st played at TPC Deere Run.

Dylan Frittelli is the defending champion.

The tournament is set to return in 2021.
