The 2020 Ryder Cup is still very much up in the air, but a major rumor has already been started about the 2022 Ryder Cup, set to be held in Italy.
In an interview with Sky Sports, PGA Tour pro Kevin Na said that he believes the captain of the 2022 Ryder Cup Team is Tiger Woods.
“The following Ryder Cup (2022) in Italy, and I believe the captain is Tiger Woods,” Na said after talking about his goals to make this year’s team.
He added, “I’ve heard rumors. Am I starting a rumor? Sorry. Am I not supposed to say anything? I won’t tell you who I heard them from, but it wasn’t from [Woods]. It was from one of his friends.”
Woods served as a playing captain for last year’s U.S. Presidents Cup team, leading the group a Sunday singles comeback in Australia.
He currently has the eighth and final qualifying spot for this year’s Ryder Cup team, captained by Steve Stricker.
As mentioned above, it is unclear what the status of the 2020 Ryder Cup is given the coronavirus pandemic.
