Former URI star Chris Francoeur has advanced to the Final Stage of PGA Tour Q-School.

However, the day was filled with a bit of chaos, heartbreak for some, and a little (a lot?) luck for others.

According to Monday Q Info, bad weather hit at Kinderlou Forest in Georgia (where Chris was playing) with leaders on the eighth hole.

Due to half the field not finishing the final round, the round four scores were wiped out and the tournament reverted back to the scores after round three.

Francoeur finished round three at seven-under par for the tournament and in a tie for ninth overall, sending him to Final Stage.

According to live scoring, Francoeur was inside the cut line by one shot through nine holes in the final round before play was called.

Francoeur played at URI from 2017-2021.

“This is a very special day for Chris, but knowing him as I do, he will celebrate all of this later. He is already on to preparing for Ponte Vedra and the thought of winning one of the five PGA Tour Cards,” said URI Head Coach Gregg Burke.

URI Assistant Coach Brandon Gillis caddied for Francoeur this week and will be on the bag again for Final Stage next week.

“It says a lot about our golf program that he had Brandon on the bag this week and will have him next week in Florida,” added Burke.
