Mather Claims Title at AGTNE’s Tournament at Cranston CC

The Fred Mather dynasty continues.
Mather earned his sixth win of the Amateur Golf Tour of New England season on Wednesday at Cranston Country Club, beating Richard Rotelli by four-shots to claim the trophy.
Rotelli was the 2024 AGTNE Net Player of the Year, while Mather took the gross.
On Wednesday, Mather carded a four-over 75 to beat Rotelli’s eight-over 79 and take the title.
With the win, Mather adds 30 points to his 2025 Player of the Year bid.
Mather’s Round
Mather opened his round at Cranston with pars on the first two holes, before going bogey, birdie, bogey, bogey over the next four to slip to two-over.
He parred out the rest of the nine to turn at two-over 35.
On the back side, Mather saved par on the first three holes, before making a bogey on the par-5 13th to move to three-over.
Mather bounced back with a birdie on the 14th, but gave it back with a bogey on the 15th.
Now at three-over for the day, Mather saved par on 16 and 17, before bogeying the 18th hole to card a 75.

Next up for the Amateur Golf Tour of New England, they go to Connecticut National on Saturday, July 5.
AGTNE’s next Rhode Island based event is at Green Valley on July 19, followed by South Shore Village Golf Club on July 24.
