Earlier this month, GolfNewsRI was invited to The International in Bolton, Massachusetts to tour the revamped Pines Course and then play the Oaks Course.

As GolfNewsRI previously reported, the Pines was renovated Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and is set to open in the spring.

Pines Notes:

Below are a few cool notes we picked up from Director of Golf Paul Celano during the tour:

– The grass is called 007xl Bentgrass

–  The tees blend into the course on the Pines – not dedicated tee boxes like you see elsewhere.

– The Pines is a 5.5 mile walk – The Oaks is an 8 mile walk.

– Pines is made to be walked and carts will remain path only for the first few years.

– There are three par-3s on the course, all can stretch to as long as 250 yards.

 – – Coore & Crenshaw made International promise not to put alll of them all the way back

– Some greens can fit up to 20 different pin placements.
