Max Jackson Named Boys Junior Player of Year
To the surprise of, well, no one, Max Jackson has been named the Rhode Island Boys Junior Player of the Year, the Rhode Island Golf Association announced on Wednesday.
The La Salle phenom ran away with the title, beating Narragansett’s Sebastian Carlsson by just over 500 points.
This is Jackson’s second Junior Player of the Year award.

Jackson’s Season
Jackson started the season by winning his second straight High School State Championship, and helping La Salle to their first team title since 1974.
He finished fourth in the World Series of Junior Golf at Triggs and second in the Challenge Cup High School Championship.
Jackson’s biggest accomplishment was qualifying for the U.S. Junior Amateur and playing at Bandon Dunes in Oregon.
He also made a good run in the Rhode Island Amateur, knocking off defending champion Bobby Leopold in the process before losing to Mike Hamilton in the quarterfinals.
Jackson won the Rhode Island Junior Amateur for the second straight year.
Outside of state events, Jackson held on to win the Pawtucket Club Championship and most recently tied for medalist honors in the Challenge Cup Tour Championship at Shelter Harbor.
