Meade Leads After Rd 1 of Mass Am, URI Star Francoeur Tied for 2nd
Nashawtuc Country Club’s Jeremy Meade leads the Massachusetts Amateur after posting four-under par 67 on Monday at The Bay Club during round one of stroke play.
“I hit some fairways, I hit some really awful putts on the front, made a few on the back, but really just kept it out in front of me, fairways, greens, knocked it close on a few holes, pretty stress free,” Meade said after his round.
Meade goes off at 7:42 a.m. at The Kittansett Club.
Behind Meade the scores are close, Andrew McInerney and URI golf star Chris Francoeur are three-under, while Rob Owen and firefighter Matt Partial are two under.
Barstool Sports personality Ryan Whitney is three-over par after round one.
Meade’s Round
Meade got off to a good start by birding the second hole, but then followed it up with bogeys on three and four to bring him to one over par.
After a par on five, Meade dropped in birdies on six and seven, before closing the front nine with a bogey on the ninth hole to turn at even par.
Meade got hot on the back nine to take control of the leaderboard.
After a par on ten, Meade eagled the 11th hole and followed that up with birdies on 12 and 14.
Meade bogeyed the 16th hole, but got the shot back with a birdie on the closing hole to finish four-under.
