Welch Finishes 9th at Southern Highlands Collegiate

Patrick Welch carded a final round 73 and finished in a tie for ninth at the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Tuesday in Las Vegas.
Welch came into the tournament as the defending champion and was seeking another exemption into PGA Tour event.

The former Classical star finished seven-under for the tournament, six shots back of winner Yuxin Lin from Florida.
Meanwhile, Welch’s Oklahoma Sooners finished fifth in the tournament, with a team score of 14-under par.
Welch’s Final Round
Following rounds of 69 and 67, Welch came into the final round two shots off the lead.
To start the day, Welch birdied the second hole, then bogeyed the third hole to stay at even par through the first four holes.
He then birdied the fifth, sixth and chipped in for birdie on the seventh to pull into a tie for the lead.
However, a bogey on eight dropped him back as he turned at 34 (2-under.)
On the back side, the future pro could not get anything going.
Welch bogeyed the 11th, made a string of pars to keep his tournament chances alive, but then bogeyed the 16th hole and 18th holes to slide down the leaderboard.
