St. Andrews to Remove Swilcan Bridge Patio After Social Media Outrage
After much discussion and twitter outrage, St. Andrews announced that they are getting rid of the newly installed patio around the famed Swilcan Bridge.
“In this instance we believe we are unable to create a look which is in keeping with its iconic setting and have taken the decision to remove it,” writes St. Andrews Links Trust in a statement issued Monday morning.
They add, “We have taken on feedback from many partners and stakeholders as well as the golfing public.”
St. Andrews will proceed to fill the area with turf in the coming days.
