Davis Chatfield Turns Pro, Tied for Lead at RI Open

Davis Chatfield’s amateur career has come to a close.

Chatfield confirmed to GolfNewsRI that he has turned professional and this week’s RI Open is his first tournament as a pro.

“Yes, I did turn pro. I have pre-qualifying for Korn Ferry Tour at the end of this month down in Texas,” said Chatfield

Chatfield will go to Korn Ferry Tour pre-qualifying school from Wednesday, August 24 through Friday, August 26 at Lantana Golf Club in Argyle, Texas.

He becomes the second Rhode Islander to turn pro over the last year or so after Will Dickson turned pro last fall.

They will both be in Korn Ferry Tour Q-School over the next month or so, though not necessarily in the same location.

However, until then, Chatfield will look to take home a victory in the Rhode Island Open at North Kingstown where he is tied for the lead after round one.
