Wheeler Earns Spot in State Championship After Playoff Victory

It may have been a mini rebuilding year for the Wheeler Warriors, but they are headed back to the State Championship Tournament.
Wheeler beat North Providence and Scituate in a three-team playoff on Tuesday afternoon at Agawam Hunt to clinch their spot in the tournament.

The Warriors posted a team score of 177, while North Providence added a 192 and Scituate posted 205.
La Salle and Moses Brown are the other two teams to make the State Championship from the West Division.
Leading Scorers
The Warriors were led by Zoheb Akhtar who shot a 40.
Jordan Gaudioso and Spencer Krex who posted 43 and 44 respectively.
Wheeler’s scoring was rounded out by Franklin Pizzarello who shot 48.
North Providence’s Michael Houle led all scorers with a 38, while Ryan Lukas added a 48.
Ryan Gervais and Dave Evans both posted 53s.
For Scituate, Jasper Bruins-Slot posted a 39 and Jake Maiello added a 48.
