O’Donovan, Owens & Jagoe Qualify for Mass Open
University of Rhode Island commit Aidan O’Donovan, Coventry’s Brian Owens and Wanumetonomy assistant pro Nick Jagoe have qualified for the Mass Open.
O’Donovan and Jagoe posted two-over 74s, while Owens posted a four-over 76 at LaBaron Hills Country Club on Wednesday to advance to the Mass Open.
The Mass Open will be held in June at Longmeadow Country Club.
After making the turn at four-over 40, O’Donovan eagled the par-5 tenth hole, then followed up with birdie on 12 and 14 to get back to even par for the day.
What a run.
He closed with bogeys on the 15th and 16th holes to shoot 74.
Jagoe opened with bogeys on the second and fourth holes, before adding another one on six to get to three-over.
He closed the front nine with a birdie on seven and bogey on eight to shoot 39.
On the back side, Jagoe made birdie on the tenth and 16th holes, before closing with a bogey on 17 to post 74.
It was a bit of a roller coaster front nine for Owens.
He bogeyed the first hole, then birdied the fourth hole to get back to even.
Over the last four holes of the front nine, he went bogey, birdie, bogey, bogey to turn at 38.
On the back side, Owens bogeyed the tenth and 12th holes before parring out to shoot 76.
