J.J. Spaun Wins Valero Texas Open, Earns Spot in The Masters
A Masters bid has been punched.
J.J. Spaun won the Valero Texas Open on Sunday afternoon in San Antonio to earn a spot in next week’s first major of the season.
Spaun finished at 13-under par for the tournament, beating Matt Jones and Matt Kuchar by two shots.
This is Spaun’s first career victory and will be his first appearance at The Masters.
Spaun’s Final Round
Spaun did not get off to an ideal start, double-bogeying the first hole.
However, he recovered with birdies on the sixth, eighth and ninth holes to make the turn at 35.
Spaun then birdied 11 and 14 to get to 13-under for the tournament.
He would par out the rest of the way, including a par on 18 after driving the ball way to the right.
