Welch Tied for 12th at N.I.T Tournament, Oklahoma 3rd
Rhode Island’s Patrick Welch is tied for 12th after day one of the N.I.T Tournament at OMNI Tucson National in Arizona.
Through 36 holes, Welch is six under overall and six shots out of the lead, which currently sits at 12-under.
Meanwhile, Welch’s Oklahoma Sooners are in a tie for third place behind first place Oklahoma State and second place Arizona.
Welch Climbs Leaderboard
After a rollercoaster first 18 in which Welch made five birdies and three bogeys, the former Classical star climbed 13 spots on the leaderboard in round two.
Starting on the second hole, Welch birdied three and then birdied nine to turn at 2-under par for eight holes.
On the back side, Welch dropped another birdie on ten, before giving one back on 13.
After that bogey, Welch dropped birdies on 14 and 17, before bogeying 18 to shoot 1-under 35 on the back nine.
Welch closed the round with a birdie on the first hole.
