Welch Sits in 3rd After Round 2 of Puerto Rico Classic
After blistering opening round of 62, Rhode Island’s Patrick Welch followed up with a two-under par 70 in round two.
He sits in solo third place behind Georgia’s Trent Phillips and Oklahoma teammate Chris Gotterup, who is in first at 14-under.
As a team, Oklahoma is in second place behind Georgia. The Sooners are 39-under par, while Georgia is 43-under par.
Tuesday is the final round of the tournament.
Welch’s 2nd Round
Starting on the first hole this time around, Welch birdied the second hole, but then made bogeys on the sixth and eighth holes.
However, he birdied the ninth hole to turn at even par 36.
On the backside, Welch saved pars on holes 10-14, before birding 15 and dropping another birdie on the par-5 18th hole to post 70.
